FactoryTwin Collaboration with UT Dallas to Advance Applied Research in Agentic AI for Digital Manufacturing

Advancing Practical Agentic AI for Real-World Manufacturing Decision Intelligence
Hopkins, MN — December 2025 — FactoryTwin is pleased to announce a new academic collaboration with The University of Texas at Dallas aimed at advancing applied research in agentic artificial intelligence and digital manufacturing systems. This initiative brings together FactoryTwin’s industry expertise with the analytical, data science, and engineering talent within UT Dallas to explore how AI-driven agents can strengthen factory decision-making and simplify access to operational intelligence.
As part of this collaboration, UT Dallas graduate students are working directly with FactoryTwin to examine and prototype next-generation agentic AI capabilities for manufacturing environments. The project focuses on how AI agents can interpret complex factory data, consolidate information across planning and execution systems, and provide users with more intuitive ways to access insights. Student teams are investigating opportunities to automate routine data analysis, improve the accuracy of operational reporting, and create conversational interfaces that help factory teams move from dashboards to dialogue-based decision-making.
Core exploration areas include natural-language querying of factory performance metrics, multi-agent workflow design, dynamic retrieval of information from real operational datasets, context management, and orchestration techniques that support more transparent, explainable AI behavior. The collaboration also examines how agentic AI can help unify data from fragmented systems, reduce time spent on manual reconciliation, and present users with clearer recommendations related to demand patterns, bottlenecks, resource utilization, and other operational constraints.
Through this effort, UT Dallas students gain hands-on experience applying modern AI techniques to real manufacturing challenges while deepening their understanding of data integrity, decision intelligence, and industrial context. For FactoryTwin, the partnership provides a valuable academic perspective that supports ongoing research and development, reinforces the company’s commitment to workforce development, and accelerates innovation within its digital manufacturing platform.
This collaboration reflects a shared vision to advance responsible, practical, and scalable AI solutions for U.S. manufacturers. Together, FactoryTwin and UT Dallas aim to contribute meaningful research insights, develop applied prototypes, and prepare the next generation of professionals to lead in the rapidly evolving field of intelligent manufacturing systems.
